Central Laboratory, Independence Health System

An increasing volume of work along with the planned acquisition and installation of new, advanced equipment created the need for a larger space for Butler Memorial Hospital’s central laboratory facility.  The expansion and renovation of the lab was defined in a strategic planning effort that outlined multiple phases of construction to implement the improvements without downtime.

The design of the lab includes significant improvements that add efficiencies to the processing and testing of clinical specimens.  Our team worked with the Hospital’s staff and leadership, as well as equipment manufacturers, to identify the requirements for each of the lab areas and components.

The finished lab provides state-of-the-art spaces for Pathology, Hematology, Microbiology, and Chemistry.
