Women’s and Children’s Center

DRAW Collective and a|m|Higley assisted WVU Medicine’s Berkeley Medical Center explore the development of a new Women’s and Children’s Center. Our core team completed this project through design development, including design for each floor, renderings of the proposed expansion, anticipated building system design, and the cost estimate for construction.

The approximately 120,000 square foot expansion planned to connect to the existing hospital and offer comprehensive Women’s Health and Labor and Delivery services.

The planning for the expansion presented opportunities to improve access to the Hospital’s Emergency Department. Site modifications and a renovation to the ED entrance were included in the schematic design.
Our planning for the project included a program of spaces to define the required relocation of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from the hospital.
